Translating Designs Into Code

A design file shows what a website should look like on a single screen, but the variety of screens people use is varied and constantly changing. Translating a finished design into a reliable, functional website that matches the original vision while working smoothly on any device is part art and part science.

Most projects begin with complete design files (Photoshop, XD, Figma, etc.) showing the layout and visual components. With that as my compass, I build a custom-coded site that faithfully reproduces the design while ensuring that pages respond naturally across screen sizes, from phones to large monitors.

Turning a visual design into a site that works on any screen for years to come requires careful decisions about responsiveness, performance, and long-term maintainability.

Rather than relying on prebuilt themes or page builders that are going to create optimization nightmares, I create streamlined builds that include only the functionality the site actually needs. What’s Involved

1. Design Review
   We begin with a conversation about the design and any functionality that may not be obvious from the mockups. This helps clarify interactions, animations, and special features before development begins.
2. Custom Development
   I build the site on a private development link, translating the design into responsive templates robust enough to remain timely for years to come.
3. Review and Refinement
   You review the working site and confirm that everything matches expectations. Any tweaks can be made while the site is still safely in development.
4. Launch
   Once the site’s approved, I move it to my production server or deploy it to the hosting provider of your choice.
